Medication Management
(30 minutes - extended on request)
Our initial meeting is a chance for us to get to know each other. On your end, it is getting comfortable with our clinic and Dr Colbert, and finding a safe and non-judgmental space where your mental health needs can be assessed. We view the doctor-patient relationship as a team, with each of us serving an equally important role in your healing and well-being. Most important to this relationship is mutual trust, respect, and responsibility. During your initial visit, you can expect a thorough and detailed evaluation of your history and current issues, assessment of your current needs, and a comprehensive treatment plan to address these needs. This treatment plan may include further medical evaluation, medications, psychotherapy, or lifestyle advice. If any of your needs can not be met by our clinic, we would be happy to assist you in locating an appropriate provider or making a referral.
Each follow-up visit will consist of a thorough assessment of your current mental health and medication regimen. Equally important is an understanding of changes in your social environment (work, school, family, living situation, etc) and important lifestyle issues, such as sleep, nutrition, and physical health. This why we encourage frequent check-ins and set aside a minimum of 30 minutes per visit as our standard.
Psychotherapy
Every patient is assessed for the appropriateness of psychotherapy as part of their initial treatment plan. Unfortunately we are unable to offer regular weekly therapy at this time, but informal psychotherapeutic techniques will be part of each and every appointment. This is why we encourage utilizing your full 30-minute appointment slot so we can go beyond symptoms and medications to truly understand all aspects of your life. We will also assist you in locating a therapist/counselor in the community.
